Minimalist White Chic

This small garden in Roath, Cardiff had two problems.  One was a lack of space with a broken down garage taking up a third of the space.  The second was the unfriendly levels and planting that added to the untidy and cramped feel.   The client wanted a contemporary and minimalist garden for entertaining.

We provided two designs during the consultation.  The garage was removed and the levels in the garden sorted out to provide two distinct areas.  An upper dining area with an integrated bench and a lower cooking area with a built in BBQ.  Contrasting materials including sawn sandstone, dark slate, granite setts and composite decking were used to give a crisp and clean finish.

Specimen planting was provided around the garden including a flowering tree that could be viewed from the house.  The design included a water feature that ran down the side of the garden providing a pleasant sound but also an interesting focal point from both in the garden and from inside the house when lit.
