Oak Arches Cascade

[ezcol_1half]This crisp and contemporary design for a new house in Pontcanna Cardiff makes the most of the long narrow plot.  The client wanted to divide the space to allow the best use of the space separately by adults and children.

A smooth sawn grey sandstone patio was placed adjacent to the back of the house at the same level as the interior floors of the house – this allowed a true “inside outside” feel between the garden and the orangery on the back of the house.

A bespoke cascading water feature and modern minimalist oak arches broke up the garden.  The water feature was made with silver quartzite slate stacked tiles to ensure it looked as interesting switched off as when running.

The middle area of the garden consisted of two custom slate benches and raised planters connected by a stepping stone path.

The final area was for the children.  In the shade of a mature beech tree there was plenty of room left for play in a safe enclosed space.

The clients wanted as low maintenance a solution as possible so a high quality artificial turf was specified as well as a low maintenance planting scheme.
